What is Mindfulness and Why it Matters to Moms
The other day I was walking down the grocery store aisle and saw not one, but three magazines with the word “Mindfulness” on the front cover. My smile widened as I picked up the magazines to browse the headlines. Mindfulness is catching on like wildfire and The Mindful Mamas Club is working hard to make sure this life-changing practice is truly accessible to ALL moms in every stage of motherhood, from trying to conceive all the way through empty nesting.
What is all this buzz about and why does The Mindful Mamas Club feel so passionate about it?
Mindfulness is a practice that teaches you to intentionally bring your focus to the present moment.
Throughout any given day, you will be pulled in 100 different directions as you try to manage your daily demands. Your attention needs to shift quickly from one demand to another. This constant tug-of-war can leave you feeling disconnected. It is common for your mind to wander from the here-and-now and ruminate about the past while simultaneously worrying about the future.
Chew on this for a moment:
If you have a child of preschool age, they will typically require your attention every four minutes which equates to 210 times per day!
Now compound your preschooler’s attention needs with modern day demands and distractions like work, running a household, smartphones, watches, and social media. It is no wonder you feel tired, drained, and overwhelmed.
Just thinking about it is exhausting. You, as a Mama, are constantly tending to the needs of others (often at the expense of your own needs) which is why self-care is so important.
Thankfully, mindfulness is a wonderful self-care practice that you can use virtually anytime, anywhere, and for any amount of time. Every drop of mindfulness counts. It is super accessible and, with practice and consistency, it can become a tool that you use throughout your day, and eventually a way of life.

In essence, mindfulness helps to navigate the stressful and savor the wonderful.
